1. SARC’s 5th Annual fundraiser with MICHAEL POLLAN: 10/14-15
Best-selling author Michael Pollan will be this year’s guest speaker at our annual fundraiser dinner. Events will begin with a gourmet meal prepared by local chefs on October 14th. Tickets are going fast, so reserve now if you would like to attend! The dinner features a great line-up of auction items; including two adorable alpacas (pictured on our website)...We will be taking bids in advance for the alpacas - place yours today!

2. Free POLLAN LECTURE: 10/15
On October 15th, SARC is sponsoring a public presentation by Mr. Pollan at 11 a.m., preceded by a Sustainability Fair starting at 10 a.m. – both at Cal Poly's Performing Arts Center. The lecture is FREE, and open to the public. NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED. 3. SARC booth at NEW FRONTIERS Natural Food Store: 8/19
Please shop New Frontiers, and visit our booth there on Wednesday, August 19. [Located at 896 Foothill Blvd., SLO] We will be there all day as part of the store’s ‘5% Wednesdays’, which benefit local organizations. Five percent of every purchase that day goes to support SARC. 5. Free SUSTAINABLE Living Night in Morro Bay: 8/14
This Friday, 6pm- 8pm at Coalesce Bookstore’s Garden Chapel at 845 Main Street, Morro Bay. The evening will spotlight Cal Poly Organic Farm Manager Cindy Douglas and authors Christine Heinrichs (“How to Raise Poultry”) and Trish Riley (“Guide to Greening your Business”). 6. PALLET TO PALATE to highlight Farmer-Chef connection: 8/16-17
This SUNDAY: Explore emerging trends in the sustainable food movement and enjoy a ground-breaking panel discussion, ‘Let’s Be Frank’, at 2 p.m. at the beautiful Cliffs Resort. The panel includes whole foods entrepreneur Larry Bain, renowned chef Bradley Ogden, and small farming pioneer Judith Redmond. The cost is $5 and includes pastured beef and pastured turkey hot dogs and salad. On MONDAY, 8/17, Pallet-to-Palate will host a ‘SLOCavore Party’ starting at 5 p.m. Sample delicious food and wine from our region while interacting with local farmers and ranchers! 7. FMI Food Sustainability Summit in SF: 8/17-8/19
FMI, the Food Marketing Institute, will hold its second Food Industry Sustainability Summit in San Francisco August 17-19. This 2 l/2 day summit which will bring together key stakeholders in the industry – including retailers, wholesalers, suppliers, academics, NGO's, government and industry experts – to discuss how to make our food supply chain more sustainable.
